This week, we sat down with Mark Wiseman to talk about all things erotic hypnosis!
Mark’s Background in Erotic Hypnosis
We start off this episode with delving into Mark’s Radioactive Spider Bite Into Kink, which is all about toying with people’s brains. He was inspired by scenes from Charlie’s Angels, as well as his experience with seeing a professional hypnotist. Eventually he was professionally trained in hypnosis, which led him to exercise his kink through writing erotic hypnosis smut. After years of teaching at hypno conventions, he wrote his book called Mind Play: A Guide to Erotic Hypnosis.
General Erotic Hypnosis Discussion
We talk about how many people believe hypnosis is only based in fantasy, but in reality, many people experience its real effects. People often become turned off to hypnosis because of cheesy media representations, such as using pocket watches, spirals, and candle flames, but we go over how these tropes can actually be a lot of fun to play with, even if there are an infinite amount of less represented ways to put someone into a trance.
Next, we discuss the validity of the argument that some people just can’t be hypnotized. Dick believes he’s not a good candidate for hypnosis because he’s a naturally resistant person, but Mark explains that all you need is to be willing to be hypnotized, and to allow whatever happens during the session to happen. He explains that a good hypnotist doesn’t serve as someone trying to force their will on someone else, but rather acts as a guide for the subject. A good hypnotist will also use the reasons why someone believes they can’t be hypnotized as a way to relax them into a trance.
We discuss some safety measures and precautions to be aware of before practicing hypnosis, such as knowing that hypnosis can’t make someone do something they genuinely don’t want to do, and the importance of establishing that a subject is able to come out of a trance at any time.
What You Can Do With Erotic Hypnosis
Next, Mark goes into a rundown of the erotic hypnosis community and some fun things hypnotists do to play with a subject’s subconscious. Hypnosis can make people feel emotions like arousal, lust, and relaxation. You can also play with people’s sensations by making them feel pain more or less acutely, or make them feel like they’re being tickled. Another sub-sect is hypno-bondage, where a hypnotist can make someone feel frozen in place, or feel as though they’re tied in rope without needing any sort of rope skills. You can also play with forms of bondage that are nearly impossible to play with in real life, such as making someone feel as though they’re being bound by a boa constrictor. You can even “break physics” through things like making people feel as though their clothing is magnetic. We also talk about hypno-impact play, like clapping to make someone feel as though they’re being hit with an implement.
Finally, we answer listener questions about things like dealing with skepticism surrounding hypnosis, practicing vanilla hypno-therapy, Mark’s favorite hypnosis sessions, whether you need to be professionally trained to be a hypnotist, and the difference between hypnosis and coercion.
Other Topics
Some other topics covered include whether or not you can hypnotize someone into feeling like they’re dying, doing sensation/impact scenes without actually touching the subject, and how to negotiate hypnosis scenes.
