This week, we sat down with Mako Allen, co-host of The Big Little Podcast, to talk about his 20+ year journey with ageplay in the kink community. We also discussed the tools he’s developed to help manage an ongoing dynamic, which led to the creation of his app for discipline-based relationships called WeMinder.

Introduction to Ageplay

We first got into Mako’s Radioactive Spider Bite Into Kink, in which he stumbled across his dad’s dirty magazines and found an article about spanking. He was fascinated by the idea of erotic spanking, but kept it a secret for a long time. Mako was a well-behaved child, which led him to be completely fascinated by spanking when he would see other kids get spanked. When he got older, his girlfriend in college went away for a month-long trip, and while she was away, Mako decided to explore more of his fetishes. He went to see Pro-Moms, who helped him solidify his spanking and diaper fetishes. After this, he dove into his kinks headfirst and never looked back.

Mako’s Ageplay Journey

Next, we dive into Mako’s journey with ageplay, and how the larger community only really started growing about ten years ago. Back when Mako first started going to dungeons, he was terrified to bring diapers because the fetish was so uncommon at the time. There was also very little information available when he was first getting into it.

We then go over the debate about whether or not it’s okay to call ageplay a fetish, when many people consider it a part of their personality/identity, and how it’s okay for fetishes to be sexual and emotional at the same time.

New App for Discipline-Based Relationships

We spent some time discussing the web application Mako has been developing for about 20 years called WeMinder. WeMinder is a behavior charting app that works well not only for ageplayers, but for anyone in discipline-based relationships.

A big reason why Mako wanted to create WeMinder is because it’s easy for one or both people in a D/s dynamic to get busy and forget about protocols and tasks. It’s not always due to a lack of dedication to the dynamic, but unfortunately, real life often gets in the way of kink. Additionally, a submissive might break a rule while their dominant isn’t around. WeMinder helps provide a place where submissives can write down when they’ve broken a rule, and the dominant will be notified from wherever they’re at.

The app also has a feature where the dominant uses a thermometer to track whether the submissive is in punishment mode or reward mode. Additionally, the app provides a mood thermometer, where either person can add their mood at any point in the day. Afterward, their partner will be immediately notified, and is able to mark that they’ve acknowledged how their partner is feeling.

Dick talks about the star chart system he uses for behavior tracking with Gwen, and how after he completes a task 5 times (earning him 5 stars), he gets a special reward. This is more of a short-term based reward system, rather than Mako’s long-term discipline-based dynamic. We also talk about how working daily protocols into a dynamic can be challenging when vanilla life gets in the way.

Discipline & Ageplay Questions

Finally, Mako answered questions from listeners about how to share your little identity with vanilla people, how the ageplay community has grown and changed over time, the relationship between littles and pets in play spaces, and many more.
