Not long ago I heard a rumor from one of our listeners – a new sex toy company making products to be stocked at big box stores like Walmart and Target. This piqued my interest, because the only things I have ever seen at non-sex related stores were throwaway bullet cock rings and battery powered vibrators. Turns out, they were on the radar of other people as well and got a piece written about them for a big time news company. I was excited to learn more about them, but upon reading the piece I was a little disheartened. It seemed that there were some negative attitudes about the sex industry that were being shared, so I actually emailed the company directly to ask about it. To my surprise, the head of marketing responded directly and we got to talking about my concerns. The article had actually misrepresented what she said and in no way is the company sex negative. The idea behind their products is to create high quality products similar to what you’d see in luxury toy design and present them to people in a more accessible way, especially people who otherwise have never been in a sex shop or have shame about buying sex toys.
This is what I find really cool about plusOne. All of their toys are between $10-$35, but they are also all made of body safe silicone, fully waterproof and are USB rechargeable. The packaging design is sort of floral and non-threatening, and they offer a good range of styles. They currently offer six toys as well as water based lube and clean up wipes. I have tried all of these items and if I had to judge on a whole, I think everything is either good or great for the price. I even like the clean up wipes, which of course you don’t need but I have found them very handy by my bedside after a sleepy right-before-passing-out jerk off session.
If I had to pick my favorite toy, it would actually be their rabbit dual-vibrating massager. I have honestly never been one for rabbits so I was really surprised how good this toy was. Both motors are stronger then what I’d expect from a toy at this price range, and quite rumbly to boot. My favorite part is how soft and flexible this is. This toy has become my go-to when I want to get off quickly and without much effort.
Their newest offering, the air pulsing Arouser, is also pretty cool, though I am still figuring out whether air pulsing toys are something I actually like. I recently got a Womanizer toy and have been comparing the two, and where I would say the Womanizer has a tapping sensation, the Arouser feels a bit more like a concentrated vibration. I am not the biggest fan of pinpoint stimulation, but I shared the Arouser with a friend who was recently staying with me and she absolutely loved it. I think for what seems to be one of the cheapest air pulse toy on the market, you’re going to be pleasantly surprised.

As far as final thoughts go, I am actually really digging what this company is doing. Everyone has the right to sexual pleasure and I am glad that there are folks out there trying to make good toys more affordable and accessible to everyone. For beginners toys, these sure beat your Spencer’s gifts jelly dildo and one-use-only cock ring. I am even more excited for the products they have planned to release in the future, and I hope I get to review those too.
