Rabbit vibrators usually don’t excite me. Even before I tried one, I always wondered how they could make something like that be universally pleasurable to everyone with a vulva. Nobody’s bits are the same shape and size, so making a good dual stimulation toy would certainly be a challenge. I have since found one that I actually enjoyed, and decided to give them a real shot. When I saw that California Exotics had a rabbit that had a thumping part as clit stimulation, I was actually interested. I love thumping, so this might work! So the lovely folks at Betty’s Toybox sent me the California Dreaming Newport Beach Babe to try.

The thing that stuck out to me first when I got this toy was that it was totally rigid. Like, no flexibility at all. This did not bode well, because one of the parts I like about the plusOne rabbit is that it’s flexible enough to fit a variety of bodies. Now the size of the Newport Beach Babe is pretty standard: about five inches of insertable length and 1.5″ widest girth. A very agreeable middle ground. It’s also a full silicone waterproof body. The whole thing does feel pretty luxe, so I was hoping that it would actually be good. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

California Dreaming Newport Beach Babe Vibe

When I tried to use this vibrator, I was wholly disappointed. The shape is just not really comfortable for my anatomy. I tried to line up the little thumper to my clit as best I could, but to get good contact it feels like I am trying to wedge a vice onto my bits. I managed to get it close enough and turned on the thumping part, and it was also very underwhelming. Sure, it felt like… Nice, but it doesn’t wow me in any way. It sort of feels like a light tapping and not really the thumping power that I need to get off. Then when I turn on the internal vibe, I can hardly feel it at all. Maybe it’s just the position of it, but it really doesn’t do much for me. The rigidity of it also makes it uncomfortable when I clench, something I pretty much always do when trying to get off.

The vibration itself is fine. It’s certainly not the strongest I have felt but it’s not bad. I am just super bummed that this toy is really not comfortable to use, because the concept is really cool. I love thumping and this really just feels like a tease. It also has this smart memory function that saves your last settings from when you turned it off, which is not that important to me. Maybe it would be cool, but I often like to start lower and build up, so I feel like I really don’t need this.

I will sum this up with my pros and cons:

Pro:

-Waterproof

-Relatively strong vibration

Cons:

-Very rigid so it’s a gamble whether or not it will fit with your body

-The thumping “teaser” is just that- a big ol’ tease.

I really wanted to like the California Dreaming Newport Beach Babe, because the concept sounded solid and because I thought it had to be at least decent with a $98 price tag. To be honest, I don’t know if I’d really recommend this toy to anyone. I would say if you’re looking for a good rabbit, look elsewhere.
