I wanted to start this post off with an (admittedly) slightly sappy thought.  Something I think about often is just how grateful I am to be part of the community that is Off the Cuffs.  Before I was involved in this community, I honestly felt aimless in life, a baby kinkster adrift with no real community to speak of.  Sure, I had some casual play partners in my local scene and a mild case of frenzy, but I had no real idea of what I was getting into or what I was looking for.  But after I met Dick Wound, moved in with him, and started helping out with the podcast, I discovered the true depth and beauty that kink can have, as well as the real, unique relationships that can be formed around it.  I am now friends with other kinky, creative queerdos from all over the world, and though most of them are not local to me, I feel more connection to them then I have to any of the other people in my life.  A few of them have become play partners, and it is through the podcast that I met my girlfriend and began to understand my identity as a bi/pansexual woman.  My experiences with same-sex/non-binary partners were extremely limited before my joining the kink community, but in the past few years I have more then made up for it.  Nevertheless, I still would certainly not say that I am any kind of expert on the matter, and there are still many things I have yet to try…

Which is where the Ruse Double Dildo comes in:

Isn’t it amazing how all it takes is one paragraph of sappiness and you forget you’re reading about a giant, purple dong?  Anyways, on to the fun stuff.  I’ve gotten pretty good at using a strap on, if I do say so myself.  But double dildos are another beast entirely.  I have always been curious about them but have never had a partner long enough to make it worth the investment.  So when Blush Novelties generously sent me this toy, I was excited, to say the least.  The Ruse 18 inch Double Dildo is a pretty even 1.5″ wide (in the slim version) and made from a soft and silky silicone, in a lovely shade of purple, nonetheless.  I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, since all of the product photos show it in big U-shape, and in fact it does come curved but is soft enough to actually be quite bendy.

Hello, yes, this is dong

Presumably the aforementioned curve is intended to make double-penetration more manageable than with a straight double dong; while that sounds good on paper, I personally have never been one for anal, so in my solo experimentation I stuck to using just one end at a time.  It’s a solid piece, but a bit ungainly and awkward to handle, given the size.  The mild texture feels lovely and the curve makes for good G-spot stimulation.  Overall, it’s good, if unnecessarily unwieldy (once more, I can’t speak to the value to someone intent on using both ends at once).

When it comes to using it with two people, well, that’s where unwieldy gives way to downright tricky.  The partner I used it with had also never used a double dildo before and is, if I may say so, equally as clumsy a person as I am.   Which is saying something.  It took us a bit to figure out the exact geometry necessary to make use this sort of thing, but after some experimentation, we determined that if we faced each other and straightened the dildo out, it gave both of us excellent G-spot stimulation. It definitely takes some work figuring out the details of who is holding what, who is fucking whom, and other such implementation details, but once we got a rhythm going, I would rate it as “really damn good.”  Which is much better than my initial rating of “why am I being forced to do geometry just to use a dildo.”  We tried it a second time, experimenting with various positions, but either we are neither coordinated nor creative enough or this toy is really only good when used exactly one way.  I have not tried this with any other partners yet, but I suspect the results will be similar.  I think it would also be interesting to try with a third partner, if the two of us receiving the dildo are sandwiched together and the third partner is fucking us both with it from behind.   Buuuutttt that would require solving the three-body problem, and undertaking that has, for the moment, proven too daunting.

Overall, I found myself very pleasantly surprised by the Ruse.  I was honestly skeptical about it’s usability at first until my partner and I figured out how to use it right.  I would say it takes some coordination, effort, and patience to use, so it will be likely remain more of an occasional toy for me rather than a standby.  But when I do use it, I’m certain that part of the pleasure I get is not just from the physical item itself but also from the joy and peace in knowing that I am being more true to myself then I have ever been before.  And with that unexpected sappiness to bookend this review, I’ll write no more.
